Why I carry a gun.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that it is my purpose to give you the best opportunity to
qualify to apply for a South Carolina Concealed Weapon Permit. Most of our time
together will be spent in the classroom. I feel that you should be able to prove proficiency with the supplied handgun and then master your own handgun outside the class. Obviously, I
will work with you during class to improve your shooting skills but it is impossible for me
to present the material required and help you perfect your shooting skills in
the time allotted.
I do provide individual instruction upon request.
If you take any of my courses, individual instruction is usually available immediately following the class.
My rate is $20 per hour for individual instruction.
I can also provide firearms and ammunition for a nominal fee, or you may bring your own firearms and ammunition.
My CWP course
contains all information required by state law - gun safety, when and where you can apply deadly force and claim
self defense, legals of owning and carrying a firearm as well as a live fire proficiency.
I am not an attorney, so I cannot and will not give legal advice.
If you desire to improve your shooting skills, I am available for individual or group coaching sessions.
APTITUDE
I have been a
firearms enthusiast for over 40 years.
I have been a South Carolina Concealed Weapon Permit Instructor since 1997.
Realizing clients have different
learning styles, my small class size allows me to accommodate each client. As
noted in my FAQs, I will re-mediate any client once at no additional charge.
ACCURATE
INFORMATION
During my time as an Instructor I have had the opportunity to interface
with many Law Enforcement Officials and Concealed Weapon Permit holders who have attended other instructors programs. To improve my course I regularly invite other instructors and other instructors' clients to attend my classes.
I collect feedback and information from as many sources as possible to enable me to present the most recent and relevant information available. I have found this to most beneficial, as many Instructors fail to include what I consider to be critical information in their courses.
Unlike some other Instructors in the area, I will never require you to perform tasks or
exhibit skills that are not required by the Regulations.
Likewise I will not
compromise my integrity by requiring less of you than what is mandated by the
Regulations.
South Carolina Concealed Weapon Training Solutions specializes in small group instruction. My maximum number of clients per session is 15.
I am NOT a South Carolina Concealed Weapon Permit "Mill" but a serious subject training service.
I pride myself on quality, personalized
instruction. Referrals and references are available upon request. I collect feedback from
clients who desire to give it.

SCCWPTS.
SCCWPTS also has a Facebook page.

SCHEDULING
I provide several options;
1) I hold an open enrollment class on
the THIRD SATURDAY of each month, limited to 15 clients.
2) I will come to your location to deliver the
training on a mutually agreeable date and time,
This option is not available on the SECOND SATURDAY, of each month, the Basic Firearms course date or the THIRD SATURDAY of each month, the CWP class date.
I require a group of no less than 3 and no more than 15 clients.
3) I will tailor
instructional classes divided over days / dates for special groups or occasions.
I require a group of no less than 3 and no more than 15 clients.
All necessary materials and equipment are provided -
All of my equipment is of
highest quality and ideally suited for this type shooting. I will assist you in completing all the necessary
forms. At this time I do not provide the fingerprinting service. I provide
fingerprint cards and referrals for this service.
Improper or inadequate fingerprinting is the
#1 reason for application rejections by SLED.
The
cost of the course is $110 per person. When I come to you the client provides a
place to meet, lunch and if possible a place to shoot. If no on-site range is available, I have access to several local private ranges.
I use
is the RugerTM Mark II pistol.
If you so desire, please click here for detailed information about the handgun you will use:
Ruger MkII Pistol Manual

Everyone using the same pistol
reduces range time and enhances the course experience. All participants perform
exactly the same procedures, in exactly the same sequence, at exactly the same
time. This reduces confusion to a minimum, allowing everyone to concentrate on
the task at hand and enjoy the training session.
You will be given an orientation session on the safe & correct operation of
the handgun, choose your pistol from the variety that are available, choose
your holster and load your magazines. All this will take place in the climate
controlled classroom, minimizing your time spent at the outdoor range.
I also offer other firearms training courses. Of particular interest to new handgun shooters may be the
Basic Handgun and Basic Firearms courses.
The fee for the Basic Handgun course is $75. The fee for the Basic Firearms course is $85. These
classes are geared toward the inexperienced shooter or a new gun owner who wants
to get off to a safe, fun start. If the two or more courses are combined, the fee is
reduced. I do require a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 15 participants.
I offer specially tailored classes to meet your specific needs.
